In support of scientific study and performance enhancement, SUGOI has designed and engineered a complete range of Race + Recovery products, featuring PISTON™ Compression Technology and Zone Construction™
SUGOI RACE + RECOVERY COMPRESSION
Featuring PISTON™ TECHNOLOGY and Zone Construction™
- Improved Circulation
- Reduced Fatigue & Enhanced Muscle Stability
- Improved Accuracy & Efficiency of Movement
- Faster Recovery
SUGOI’s Race + Recovery compression collection features PISTON™ fabric technology, a tight warp knit construction with a high stretch modulus which ensures a light weight, breathable fabric, with extremely strong and consistent compression.
Zone Construction™ is the process of engineering fit and function. To ensure graduated levels of compression and muscle encapsulation, SUGOI engineers Zone Construction™ to deliver maximum performance.
PROVEN PERFORMANCE
The benefits of graduated compression have been thoroughly studied and quantified; the key to a successful graduated compression collection is how you then interpret that data. "The SUGOI Race + Recovery collection with PISTON™ technology provides athletes with the proper graduated support using Zone Construction™, which increases circulation and reduces the chance of injury." – Dr. Michael Hunt, Ph.D. ( Dr. Michael Hunt, Ph.D. has specialized in compression technology for over 10 years with DuPont Lycra® Dow XLA®)
KEY BENEFITS OF Zone Construction™ COMPRESSION
Engineered graduated compression through Zone Construction™ creates specific compression rings that provide lateral forces against the body, with the greatest force at the extremities that gradually decrease as you move closer to the heart. Zone Construction™ allows SUGOI to deliver balanced graduated compression at the recommended 0.6 lbf/inch at 50% garment elongation. For example, if the calf section of a relaxed garment measures 10 inches in circumference; then, when it is stretched around the calf during wear it will measure 15 inches to achieve 50% elongation. At 50% elongation the fabric compression is measured at 0.6 lbf/inch.
Working in conjunction with the body’s skeletal muscle pump, contraction and relaxation of calf muscles forcing blood to be pumped back towards the heart, Zone Construction™ compression rings enhance blood flow and increase circulation of oxygenated blood within the body.
1. Improved Circulation
Race + Recovery garments help pump blood back to the heart, allowing for more efficient distribution of oxygen. Improved circulation results in the removal of by-products of muscle exertion such as carbon dioxide and lactic acid, which commonly cause cramps and discomfort.
2. Reduced Fatigue and Enhanced Muscle Stability
Targeted muscle groups are isolated and fully encapsulated, resulting in muscle vibration reduction. The muscle group is stabilized by the garments, resulting in less immediate fatigue and reduced chance of micro-tears in muscles and long-term injuries.
3. Improved Accuracy and Efficiency of Movement
SUGOI Race + Recovery garments improve accuracy and efficiency of movement (proprioception) through enhanced biofeedback. This can lead to improved performance across a range of sports, including a more efficient:
- Running stride,
- Swimming stroke,
- Position on the bicycle.
4. Faster Recovery
Enhanced circulation assists the removal of post activity build-up of lactic acid collected in muscle tissue. Improved circulation combined with enhanced muscle stabilization for reduced muscle damage all assist in speeding recovery.
POWERFUL COMPRESSION
SUGOI PISTON™ fabric delivers powerful compression. This balanced compression provides nearly equivalent stretch and recovery in both fabric directions (warp and weft). When tested, PISTON™ delivers 0.6 pounds per square inch (lbf/inch)* based on 50% garment stretch.
* 1 pound per square inch (psi) = 6.9Pa (6.9kg / ms2)
Based on studies conducted by DuPont when developing Lycra® Power™ compression garments, appropriate compression is achieved at 0.6 lbf/inch at 50% fabric elongation.
- Powerful stretch and recovery
- Balanced Compression
- Both fabric directions nearly equivalent
APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF COMPRESSION FOR ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES
At SUGOI, we believe that any garment claiming graduated compression attributes should provide compression forces ranging between 5-15 mm Hg.
Mm Hg is the abbreviated version of millimeters of mercury, a standard unit of pressure. A pressure transducer is utilized to measure the mm Hg levels of compression force applied to the body by compression fabric.
Compression above 15 mm Hg serves medical purposes, like devices made for individuals with diabetes and serious circulatory ailments.
Between 1991 and 2001, DuPont Lycra® conducted a series studies on the physiological benefits of compression apparel and graduated compression hosiery. These studies led to an industry recommended level of compression for healthy, active individuals ranging between 5-15 mm Hg. Visit SUGOI.COM for reference studies and supporting data.
As an industry leading expert in design and engineering of athletic apparel, SUGOI supports the scientific studies conducted on the physiological benefits of compression and endorses industry experts who recommend levels of compression ranging between 5-15mm Hg.
